The season of Lent is a time to hone in on an area of life where you are walking carefully. It is a time to practice the discipline of making a change or creating a structure for listening to God and pay attention to the changes you might need to make. A Lenten discipline might be giving up chocolate or ice cream but more important is asking the question: for what purpose? Why give up something and how does doing so help me address the issue about which I need to listen to God?
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent — February 26. We will gather for worship on Ash Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Use the next few days to get ready for Ash Wednesday. What is an area of your life that needs attention? What needs renewal or vitality? How is God working on you to get you to pay attention? You won’t be asked to share that concern aloud to others — just bring it and offer it up to God.
