AUGUST 28th

It’s Friday and Sunday’s Comin’!

(Thanks to whoever left their raincoat on the church coat rack — it was a help.)

I took this picture in the pouring rain.

It’s funny that I could stand in the rain with my feet getting soaked, and I had to dry off my phone carefully because it got so wet, but when you see the photograph, the rain is not visible.

It’s a kind of parable for me: We deal with the present moment and its challenges but we need to keep our eyes on what can be seen on the other side of the struggle. At some point we’ll hardly notice the struggle at all.

It helps to have a clear sense of direction — not to just see the rain but to see through it.  My prayer for you today is that you see your goal clearly as a follower of Jesus and that the gift of love and grace in Jesus Christ is what you see even when you find yourself getting drenched in the downpours of life.

Blessings always,
Pastor Mary
