April 22nd

It’s Friday and Sunday’s Comin’!

I want to thank you all for your kindness and hospitality to Michael’s mother in her visit here over the past month. “Mother Mary” always feels so welcomed and loved when she visits. We are leaving tomorrow for her trip home to Arkansas and I’m not sure she’s ready to go out the door!

That’s what church is — or should be, isn’t it? The knowledge that each person is so loved and cared for that they don’t want to leave. To share joys and sorrows, tears and laughter, success and failure — surely that’s Jesus meant when he said to his disciples: love one another as I have loved you.

That kind of love is not always easy especially when people here and across the world do things that we radially disagree with. But God’s love is supposed to shape and determine our actions. We are slow to learn that.

“Confessions of a Slow Learner” is the sermon title this week. Michael Cartwright will be preaching and Kathy Roberts will lead us as liturgist. We may be slow but what can we learn that leads into hope for tomorrow?

Blessings always,

Pastor Mary
