Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving! It was such a joy to share Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday with our new friends from DRC and many others! Thanks so much to the Basement Bunch for coordinating, to other classes for providing food and cleanup. And what a blessing to hear words of hope, perseverance and faith from Rev. Ferdinand Byalumbo.

Beginning this week we’ll start featuring our new logo and mission statement (above) in publications and emails. Thanks very much to Shelly Hayes for designing it for us.

Thanksgiving Day was not particularly good for some — Jay Hancock’s mother Connie Richards fell and broke her hip; surgery is today. Several others continue to deal with cancer and the deep sadness of saying goodbye to a loved one. Others are still recovering from surgery or battling chronic illness Health concerns are a constant in our life together and I’d like to offer this prayer for healing and strength:

Loving God, we know that we do not do well because we are strong but because you go with us even in our weakness.  Your grace is sufficient. Help us to know your grace even when strength is moving forward at a crawl. Help us see your grace when healing appears through kind words and tender care. Help us feel your grace when healing seems far off and we wait as patiently as we can. Help us not to worry but to rest in our hope.  In Jesus’ name pray. Amen.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Mary
