Roy’s Ramblings

As we continue our sermon series on “Waking Through the Garden” – this Sunday we will talk about Preparation – Getting Ready – Planning. I’m reminded of a poem I saw on a friends desk this week:

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Many times the work doesn’t get done because there is no preparation or planning. As far as gardening prep: tilling, fertilizer, removing of rocks, weeds, and last year’s leftovers. And, planning: what seeds/seedlings, marking rows, planting in companion groups, early/regular/late crops, etc. Gardening can be a big deal. Life can be too.

Our mission is: To make disciples of Jesus Christ to change the world and our vision is similar: Love God, Love All, Serve Joyfully. Both of these sound easy and accomplishable – but both take time, effort, preparation, and planning to do well. So as we keep moving forward: let us remember that the Trustee Work day is tomorrow (Sat the 20th) 9am-noon … it is planned and prepped just needs workers. The Mother’s Cupboard Soup Bowl Fundraiser is Sunday (the 21st) it is planned and prepped (although we do need helpers <bodies and vehicles> to move the silent auction items from the Mother’s Cupboard building to the Seasons Event Center after church) we just need soup eaters. The UM Foundation Stewardship Conference is happening Mon-Wed this coming week – it is planned and prepped (there are still two free openings for NUMC members to attend if anyone is interested). The Brown County Family Festival is happening on Tuesday (23rd) it is planned and prepped but we do need a couple of NUMC folks to stand with our booth at Deer Run Park – 5:30-7:30pm.

And as always: The Gospel of Jesus Christ needs to be shared with all the world … Are we Planning to do that? Are we prepared to do that? Are we Praying about the best ways to move forward with that? Just some ramblings … as we ponder what is to come.

Bless Us Lord Jesus – and as always – Hear Our Prayers … Pastor Roy
