Roy’s Ramblings

Prayer to the Holy Spirt: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in us the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

News Flash: Pentecost – 50 days after Easter – the Birthday of the Church – God sends the Holy Spirit to change hearts, minds, and souls – The Disciples were Touched by Tongues of Fire and Spoke to the world in their own language.

Acts 2:1-4 – When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

This is the start of revival in the early church that was led by the Disciples. Previously we see stories of thousands joining the movement – but these advancements were led by Jesus. This time, powered by the Spirit of God – common fishermen, tax collectors, laborers, blue collar if you will … lead the charge. Why is this important? Because if it happened before … it can (should) happen again.

I am reminded of the revivals of my childhood. A week-long song fest with a loud hired hand telling us night after night how horrible we are and that if we don’t repent and come forward to let him lay hands on us that we are going to burn forever in hell. Not very helpful.

But a real revival is coming. This revival is going to be regular folks, loving neighbors, building relationships, helping, loving, teaching, loving, learning, (did I mention loving??). All together as a unified body of believers filled with the Holy Spirit with a common goal: Making Disciples to Change the World. IT IS GOING TO BE GLORIOUS!!! Life changing, church changing, world changing.

We just need to get started. Soooo, who wants to invite their neighbor to come to church this Sunday??? And don’t forget to wear something red and tell them to as well.

Love and Blessings – Pastor Roy
