Roy’s Ramblings
Happy Valentines Day! A day for lovers to show their feelings toward another with: chocolate, flowers, and jewelry … or it is a day that Hallmark, Florists, and Big Box Stores make money. Oh, don’t get me wrong … I Love my family, but we show it every day and don’t rely on something pink, cuddly, and expensive or some certain day to show it.
So, there are lots of different ways I could go with this ramblings. I could give the history of St. Valentines and tell of the origins of the “Lover’s Holiday”. I could give Scripture and show the number of times that we are told to love (God, Enemies, each other, etc.). I could break down the kinds of gifts that are traditionally given on Valentines day and tell why they have become the reason for the season. Or, I could just keep this short and sweet and let you know that you are Loved. You are loved by me, by the church, and especially by God. So short it is – whether you have a significant other – or you are a single jewel – you are loved and are called to love others. So celebrate loving folks today … and everyday for that matter.
