Roy’s Ramblings

Today is truly the epitome of the phrase “It’s Friday but Sunday is Coming!!” Good Friday is the darkest day of the Christian year – the day we remember that Jesus died, that the sky turned black, the curtain was torn and (for many that day) all hope was lost. They didn’t know what we know … they didn’t (as Paul Harvey used to say) know the rest of the story.

We are a Post Easter People. We know that death had no sting, we know that Jesus took away Thomas’ doubt, we know that travelers to Emmaus and disciples and others all saw the resurrected Jesus … but on that day … to those that were gathered … the world crashed down around them and hope was gone.

So … I’m just wondering … who in today’s world have no idea of the rest of the story? We see the poor all around us. (And not just poor financially – poor in spirit – poor in health – poor in compassion – poor in not knowing the teachings and blessings of Jesus). We see the rich elite that don’t seem to care about anyone or anything except their greed and hoarding of assets. We see dictators that are waging war against innocent people and the killing of those people for political gain and just because they can. Closer to home we see people that do not attend any religious services, don’t believe in a higher power, that think that after death … it is just over. Tis sad really that all of these and so many more do not know the rest of the story.

So I am calling us to pray (today and everyday) for the ones in the world that do not know (or that have rejected) the living Christ. The folks that think that the only people and things that matter are a small group that are just like them and that all people/things that don’t matter to them … don’t matter at all. I call us to pray for the poor in every category, the captives or war torn lands and prisons or all kinds, and for all that have (for all reasons) lost hope. It is Friday … But Sunday is Coming !!!
