Roy’s Ramblings…
Today is my kids 14th birthday – Happy Birthday Samuel!! The first of this month started my 30th year of ministry (third year here in Nashville); in November I turn 57 years old and in December Lauren and I celebrate 28 years of marriage. Sometimes, it seems like time travels so very slowly and when you look back at life and life events … blink … you feel like you have missed something.
In the book of Acts, Luke writes/quotes this: No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. (This was in my devotional reading this past week … tis why it is on my mind) And, I am wondering what are your life dreams? What are your visions of fulfilling your calling? What is the prophesy/legacy that you are leaving behind?
Each of us has a number of days on Earth to (Quoting John Wesley) Do No Harm, Do Good, and Stay in Love With God!! And I am just wondering how we are doing it? I know that I do not always do things to perfection: goofs, slip-ups, short comings, distractions, obligations, health issues, etc. have kept me from living up to my full potential in many aspects of life. And I’m sure that all who are reading this have had similar issues in life as well. But, it is overcoming those obstacles that are so very important. A friend told me one time that success is on the other side of fear – meaning – that if we can overcome our fear of trying something new … if we can overcome our fear of failure … if we can over come our fear of the unknown … that we will find success in what we are attempting to accomplish.
Our Vision here at NUMC is to: Love God, Love All, and Serve Joyfully. I have truly been asking myself this week: Am I doing this? Are we doing this? Does the community know us by our Vision and acting it out in public? What are we know for … what is the perception of NUMC? And, yeas I would love some actual feedback on this.
And Likewise: What are your visions – dreams – aspirations – goals – and prophesy (words for others)? And what is your (our) plan for accomplishing them in the name of God and for the good of the Kingdom?
Just Rambling as I celebrate some life numbers today – Peace and Love –
