Roy’s Ramblings…

This is going to be a busy weekend!! Trick or Treating at Salt Creek Trail Friday from 5pm – (whenever we run out of candy or kids) – Saturday a wedding at the church – Sunday is All Saints Sunday where we remember the saints of old as well as honor our own glory seekers from this past year – Ann Callahan and Dick Routh – plus the Crystal Ringers are playing special music and God’s Kids are having a lemonade stand after church … and on top of all of that DST … we “Fall Back” by the way.

Next week is filled with meetings, election day where there is no school, Sunshine Friends being entertained with Jerry the Magician, Samuel is “The Reverend” in the high school performance of Arsenic and Old Lace, and the Chocolate Walk is happening. Then our Scout Troop will be honoring our Veterans on Nov 11 with presenting the flags and we are getting ready for all of the Thanksgiving meals – our own after church on November 23rd and the Free Meal for All sponsored by the YMCA on November 27th. All of this is on top of the “Regularly Scheduled Program” of Mother’s Cupboard, Habitat Stuff, Sunday School and Worship, wellness checks, Bible Studies, guests and visitors, and … well … life!! Wow!!!! Stuff is happening.

So I tell you all that … to make sure you hear this … TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!! We are entering into the busiest time of the year … family gatherings and commitments … demands and responsibilities … holidays and all that goes with them … end of year stuff and start of year planning … and as I said before all of the “Regular Programming”. It is enough to wear you down and to exceed your physical/mental/emotional band width.

So, Breathe in and Out (repeating as necessary) – take breaks – take naps – pause and reset often. Most of us do not have anyone to watch out for us as closely as we can watch out for ourselves so make sure you take care of you. And, if you have a little extra time or extra band width … check on your neighbor to make sure they are ok too. We’ve done this all before and we will be called on to do it all again – but I have noticed the older I get the harder it seems to get it all done. Yeah, I know, preaching to the choir (and preaching to myself).

Be Blessed My Friends – and Bless Others as you go along as well. Pastor Roy
