Roy’s Ramblings…From Vacation

I am sitting on my back porch … drinking my morning coffee … watching a doe and her fawn from this year nibbling some grass and trying to come up with something inspirational … or witty … or wise … and <pausing to sip more coffee> I think I may just say to all … take time for yourself and recharge. I say this as I am finishing up my fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) realizing that I hadn’t taken my vacation days as I should, realizing that I was borderline burnout, realizing that I needed a break – and I‘m sure that you do too.

Don’t get me wrong, I do take time each day for Devotions/Bible/Prayer – I take time each week for some downtime and rest (Sabbath) – I do fit in my vacation time each year (although I am notorious for waiting until the last minute) – I do try!! But, I also know that I should/could do better. We all probably could.

So, to make this short and sweet – rest your mind, body, and soul as often as you can and recharge your batteries so that you are having a quality life. Being stressed, being tired, stretching yourself too thin or having too many irons in the fire is not healthy and doesn’t really do anyone any good at all. Stressed work is usually sub-par.

So as I have said live … I now say in print: Breathe in … Breathe out … repeat as necessary.
