Roy’s Ramblings
So it is eclipse weekend and we are not having “in-person church”. So I thought since it is still the Easter season; I’d give you a couple of Bible passages that to relate what happened after the resurrection where Jesus wasn’t recognized. (Look these up in your translation of choice.):
John 20:1-31 – This is the passage of Mary at the tomb, where she thinks he is the gardener,
all the way through to Jesus appearing to the Disciples in the locked upper room
and where Thomas doesn’t believe until he has proof.
Luke 24:13-35 – This is the passage where Jesus appears to two travelers on the road to Emmaus
where they do not recognize him
And even before the last week of Jesus’ life; he told this parable where people saw Jesus in others but didn’t know it:
Matthew 25:31-46 – “Sheep and Goats” passage – where we feed, give drink, invite, clothe,
heal, visit … vs 45 -“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of
the least of these, you did not do for me.’
So, I want us to ponder these questions this weekend:
- Where do we see Jesus? In Whom? In What? Where?
- What do we do for the least of these?
- How do we share the Gospel message? What is the best way to show others that we are followers of Christ?
- What stands in our way of recognizing The Christ in Our Midst?
Stay safe this weekend and enjoy the show. Let’s Pray:
Almighty God, let us always and everywhere recognize you in the stranger, the hungry, the lost, the least. Allow us to be your hands and feet in service to all the world and to share your message with others. Lord, Bless us as only you can so that we may be a blessing to those who need it. In your Name and Presence we pray. Amen.
